Today I checked in on a venue for startups presenting to investors at Techcrunch 2010 in NYC.
I noted several things on the blogs posted about the company presentations.Check them out and compare the questions and issues in your bplan:
- "What is your proprietary advantage?" This is the number one, central focus of all investors.
- "What are your multiple revenue streams?" This is expected of all startups in this new combative era.
- "Your presentation was terrible." You have to be prepared for this stinging remark.
- Eliminate risk by doing deals with strategic partners before presenting to investors. This was painfully clear when reading about Movieclips.com and AnyClip. You are exposed to high risk and expensive investor cost of capital if you are dependent on deals being signed but have not yet been signed.
BOTTOM LINE: Try those out on your enterprise. When you have good responses to the related issues, you are well on your way to building an unfair competitive advantage.I wish you The Best on your Adventure!
